Anything parked for months collects the same faults: a flat or ruined battery, seized brakes, aged and flat-spotted tyres, stale fuel, and rodent damage to wiring.

Batteries. Self-discharge accelerated by heat, then sulphation. A maintainer costs less than one battery.
Brakes. Surface rust on rotors and seized calipers, particularly with the parking brake applied.
Tyres. Flat spots and sun-aged sidewalls. Date code beats tread depth here.
Fuel. Degrades over months and causes running faults misread as ignition problems.
Rodents. Wiring and insulation, invisible until something stops working.
Fluids. Used oil is acidic; changing before storage is the better order, and changing before the first drive is the recovery.

One visit covering batteries, brakes, tyres, fluids and a rodent check usually puts a stored vehicle back into service for less than the sum of the separate call-outs later.

Heat, and servicing by time rather than mileage

In this climate a low-mileage vehicle is not a low-wear vehicle. Heat and sun degrade batteries, hoses, belts, rubber and tyres on a calendar, whether the vehicle moves or not.

People assume few miles means little wear. Mileage wears moving parts; heat and ultraviolet degrade everything else regardless of use.

So on a lightly used vehicle here: test the battery at three years, inspect hoses and belts by feel rather than by odometer, judge tyres by date code, and treat coolant as having a service life. Wiper blades and weatherstrip simply dissolve.

The rule that follows is short: service by time, not by mileage.

Booking, and what makes a visit go quickly

Give the year, make, model and engine, say exactly where on the property the vehicle sits, and say how long it has been parked. The last one reorders everything a mechanic expects.

"It has not been started since April" is the most useful opening sentence you can offer, because it changes the whole approach before anyone arrives.

Beyond that: describe the surface, since jack stands need firm level ground, and mention shade, which from June to September is a scheduling factor rather than a comfort.
